The EHS Stewardship Leader is a core member of the Tow Leadership Team, responsible for driving safety, compliance, and continuous improvement within the Acetate Tow Unit at the Celanese Narrows, VA site. This role promotes a strong safety culture, ensures safe and efficient operations, and supports daily execution aligned with company standards.
Responsibilities:
Stewardship & Safety Leadership
- Lead stewardship performance and culture within the unit
- Ensure adherence to Life Critical policies and regulatory compliance
- Identify risks, lead Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and drive issue resolution
- Conduct field assessments and audits (e.g., LOTO, SOPs, PSI)
- Monitor safety/environmental KPIs and implement risk-reduction plans
- Facilitate stewardship training and mentor core team members
- Support Conduct of Operations (ConOps), Management of Change (MOC), Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), Management System Reviews (MSR), and behavior-based safety reviews
Quality Alignment
- Integrate product quality into stewardship practices
- Identify quality risks during field activities and reviews
- Support CAPA execution and SOP compliance
- Promote operating discipline to maintain product integrity
Production & Reliability Support
- Embed stewardship into 24/7 operations and maintenance
- Collaborate with Maintenance, Engineering, and Operations to ensure safe, efficient job execution
- Foster proactive issue identification and equipment reliability
Team Engagement & Leadership
- Model visible leadership and positive team culture
- Mentor and develop team members on stewardship and leadership behaviors
- Lead the 24/7 Stewardship Facilitator group for consistency and alignment
- Promote open communication, recognition, and continuous feedback
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing or comparable industry settings
- Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
- High resilience, sound judgment, and ability to perform under pressure
- Strategic thinker with a passion for safety and operational excellence
- Technically adept with a hands-on, solutions-oriented mindset
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Operations, Engineering, or a related technical field preferred; relevant certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, CMRP) are a strong plus
