Responsibilities
- Act as program owner for occupational health & safety processes (e.g., confined space, hot work, permitting, energy isolation, PPE)
- Ensure compliance with applicable health & safety requirements through audits and assessments
- Serve as site subject matter expert for safety Standard Work Practices (SWPs)
- Identify hazards and lead implementation of effective mitigation strategies
- Lead or participate in incident investigations and root cause analyses
- Develop and deliver safety training programs across the site
- Conduct field safety observations
- Support the emergency response program, including training and drills
- Coordinate occupational injury and illness case management in collaboration with medical and site leadership
- Foster strong relationships with local emergency responders and mutual aid partners
- Support contractor safety and management programs
- Drive initiatives that enhance employee engagement and overall safety culture
Qualifications
- 10-15+ years of occupational safety experience in a manufacturing environment
- CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) designation required
- Demonstrated leadership and ability to drive a positive safety culture
- Strong field presence and employee engagement focus
- In-depth knowledge of applicable health and safety regulations, including Alberta OH&S
- Experience developing and implementing safety programs and procedures
- Strong communication, training, and presentation skills
- Knowledge of emergency response operations and planning
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
